The Charleston area has two new places to meet and play. One is the Mount Pleasant Branch of the Charleston County Library on the corner of Anna Knapp Boulevard and Mathis Ferry Road. They are meeting on the third Thursday of the month between 6:00 and 8:00pm. Boards and sets are available, but bring your own if you have one.
Another is the Wendy’s at 343 Folly Road. They play there every Thursday at 7pm.
Another new place is at the new Mount Pleasant Senior Services Center, 840 Von Kolnitz Road, just off Mathis Ferry Road before you get to the I526 overpass going towards the old Wando HS. They are offering a chess program for their members on Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00am. If anyone knows of any other chess activity, let us know and we will advertise it accordingly.
Update: Another new place is at the James Island Senior Center, 865 Riverland Dr., near James Island County Park. New CCC club member, Charles Ommen, tells us that they meet at 11:00am every Wednesday. For our 50+ players, bring your set and board and give them a try!
